Game Description

A video game called WarGames Defcon 1 was created by Interactive Studios and released by MGM Interactive and Electronic Arts for the PlayStation and Microsoft Windows (in North America, MGM Interactive solely published the game). The PC version is a real-time strategy WarGames Defcon 1 (akin to Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds), whereas the PlayStation version is a tactical vehicle-shooting game, even though both versions have the same missions and content. The scenario in the WarGames Defcon 1 was written by John Badham, who also directed the original film WarGames, and is partly based on that film.

PlayStation version

The player can play as WOPR or NORAD. In the WarGames Defcon 1, which takes place 20 years after the movie, WOPR is trying to wipe off humanity, and NORAD is doing its best to stop it. The player controls a vehicle throughout a mission and can switch between any of the team’s vehicles; for instance, WOPR has exotically futuristic mechs and hovercraft while NORAD has heavily armed and armored tanks and aircraft. By acquiring powers, vehicles can refresh their ammo. The player can direct their team to assault, repair damaged units, send resupply munitions, or follow the player’s primary vehicle.

Multiplayer

WarGames Defcon 1 features 2-player split-screen VS. or Co-op. The Co-op allows the players to play all single-player levels with a partner.
