Transformers: The Game is an action-adventure video game based on the live-action film Transformers, which was released in 2007. The Transformers: The Game closely follows the plot of the film, depicting the arrival of the Autobots and Decepticons on Earth after a war between them has ravaged their home planet of Cybertron. While attempting to conceal their existence from humanity, both factions seek a powerful artifact known as the AllSpark, which has the potential to restore Cybertron to its former glory while also enslaving Earth’s population. The game has a split-campaign format, with players choosing to join either the Autobots or the Decepticons and completing missions for either faction. A sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, was released in June 2009, based on a film of the same name.

Transformers The Game was released in June 2007 for a variety of platforms to mixed to positive reviews. Traveler’s Tales created the home console and PC versions for the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, and PC, while Savage Entertainment created a different PlayStation Portable version. The Nintendo DS versions of the game are Transformers Autobots and Transformers Decepticons. Vicarious Visions, the company tasked with porting the game to the Nintendo DS, decided to split the DS version into two separate games. Unlike games with multiple SKUs, such as Pokémon, which have only minor differences between versions, these are two distinct games with some basic similarities but distinct characters, missions, and locations.
