Game Description
Croc Legend of the Gobbos is a platform game published by Fox Interactive and developed by Argonaut Games. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was an early example of a 3D platform game, first released in North America in September 1997 for the Sony PlayStation, then later that year for the Sega Saturn and Microsoft Windows. Croc Legend of the Gobbos follows a young crocodile named Croc as he sets out to rescue a group of furry creatures known as Gobbos from the evil magician Baron Dante in the fictional setting of the Gobbo Valley.
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos began development shortly after Argonaut and Nintendo had a successful relationship, with the former developing a processing chip for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System called the Super FX, which was used in games like Star Fox to display 3D polygonal environments. It was first pitched to Nintendo as a prototype for a 3D platform game in which the player-controlled Yoshi from Nintendo’s Super Mario series, but Nintendo rejected it, ending the relationship and prompting Argonaut to retool Croc Legend of the Gobbos as an original property. Simon Keating created the game’s characters and mechanics in his first video game project. The game’s music was composed by Justin Scharvona, Karin Griffin, Martin Gwynn Jones, and Jonathan Aris provided the voice of the main character.
Critics gave Croc Legend of the Gobbos mixed reviews, with praise going to the game’s visuals, music, and sound, and criticism going to the controls and camera. It went on to become one of Argonaut’s most successful PlayStation releases, selling over 3 million copies. Croc 2, the game’s sequel, was released in 1999.

Croc Legend of the Gobbos Download For Windows PC Gameplay
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos is a third-person 3D platformer in which the player controls Croc, a green crocodile, through several courses set on various islands throughout Gobbo Valley. Levels are accessed via a world map and consist of various smaller sub-sections that take place both above and underground (as well as occasionally underwater) and are filled with various enemies and obstacles that try to obstruct Croc.
The main goal of each level is to navigate the stage and reach the gong at the end of the level in order to transport Croc to the next level, while also saving as many captured Gobbos imprisoned throughout the stage as possible. Certain stages also include boss enemies known as “Guardians,” which Croc must defeat in order to advance to the next stage. Collectibles such as small, grey crystal orbs that act as Croc’s health and red hearts that give the player an extra life are scattered throughout the stages. Also hidden throughout each stage are six Gobbos being held captive by the Dantini tribe, who serve as Croc’s main objective throughout Croc Legend of the Gobbos. 5 of these Gobbos are hidden throughout the level, often by solving a puzzle or completing a challenge, while the 6th Gobbo is hidden behind a set of doors in a bonus room that can only be reached by collecting 5 colored crystals hidden throughout the level. Rescuing every Gobbo in each world before a boss level unlocks a secret level that can be completed to collect a jigsaw puzzle piece. Collecting every puzzle piece in Croc Legend of the Gobbos unlocks an additional island with more levels for the player to progress through. While collecting the Gobbos is not required to complete croc the legend of gobbos, it is required in order to face off against the game’s final boss and unlock the true ending.
Croc’s maneuvering abilities are similar to Mario’s in Super Mario 64, with his primary modes of movement consisting of the ability to run, jump, climb, and swim using either the analog stick or the D-pad, as well as touting the ability to perform a sidestep and a 180-degree quick turn as other modes of maneuver. Croc’s primary attack consists of a full-circle tail swipe used to defeat enemies and bosses, as well as a hip drop move used to break open crates containing collectibles. Croc’s in-game health is represented by the crystals collected by the player throughout croc the legend of gobos; when Croc is injured by an enemy, all of his crystals are lost and scattered around him in various directions (similar to a mechanic commonly used in Sonic the Hedgehog games). If Croc is injured while he is without crystals, the player loses a life and is returned to the beginning of the level segment they are currently in.
