    The player assumes the role of a god who rules over several islands inhabited by various tribes. The player interacts with the environment by using an animated on-screen hand to throw people and objects, tap houses to wake their occupants, cast miracles, and perform other actions. The story revolves around gold and silver scrolls. Gold scrolls start a significant event (including the main story), while silver scrolls start a minor task for a reward.

    Almost every action (or lack thereof) influences how the player is perceived by their followers: the player may be viewed as a good god, an evil god, or somewhere in between. The alignment affects the land, interface (including the hand), and music. A good god’s temple is brightly colored, whereas an evil god’s temple is meant to be intimidating. It is not necessary to perform acts of either alignment on a consistent basis, and a combination of the two can be used to remain neutral. The player has two advisors, one good and one evil, who try to persuade him to act in accordance with his alignment.

    Expanding the villages by constructing buildings and increasing the number of villagers is a critical task. Houses, the Village Centre (which displays the god who controls the village and the available miracles), and the Village Store (which stores resources and displays the villagers’ desires) are all important structures. After obtaining blueprints, buildings are built in the Workshop. Wonders are unique structures that provide a specific benefit. Villagers can be assigned to one of eight tribes, such as Norse, Celtic, or Japanese, each with its own Wonder. Villagers can be assigned to perform a specific task, such as fishing or starting a family.

    The game is over if the Temple is destroyed. When attacked, Temples defend themselves by transferring damage to their god’s buildings and followers; only Temples whose god has no followers are vulnerable.

    The Temple is surrounded by villagers’ worship sites, which generate the power required to perform miracles. To worship, villagers need to be fed, healed, or rested. The Village Centre controls how many villagers worship, and which miracles are available depending on the player’s villages. Miracles include the provision of food or wood, the healing of people, and the provision of shields to protect an area. Miracles can also be cast using Miracle Dispensers, which are commonly obtained as a reward for completing Silver Reward Scrolls. These enable the casting of a miracle without the need for worship. Miracles and most other actions can only be performed within the player’s area of influence, which can be expanded by increasing the population of villages owned or by taking over others. Miracles can be chosen at the Temple or Village Centre, or by making certain Hand gestures. Sacrificing living beings at the altar can also produce power.

    A level’s overall goal is to gain control of every village on an island by performing acts that persuade the villagers to believe in the player. Villagers can be swayed by anything from daily task assistance to being terrorized by fireballs and lightning storms. Villagers can be impressed with artifacts (special objects that glow in their owner’s color) and missionary disciples. The repeated attempts to impress the villagers bore them. For example, if boulders fly too frequently overhead, their effect is diminished. This forces the player to employ a variety of methods in order to convert a village.

    The game includes a skirmish mode in which other gods compete for control of an island, a multiplayer mode via LAN or online service, and The God’s Playground, where gameplay aspects can be practiced. Deathmatch and cooperative modes are available in multiplayer mode. Players share a creature in cooperative mode. Black & White includes a feature that allows you to import real-world weather.

    Creature

    The interaction between the player and an avatar-like creature is a key feature of Black & White. Three are available to choose from right away, and others can be obtained by completing Silver Reward Scrolls. At certain points in the game, the currently-owned creature can be replaced with a new one. The creature begins small and grows in size as the game progresses. Each has advantages and disadvantages: apes are intelligent and skilled at learning but lack strength; tigers are strong but slow to learn.

    As a god, the player can train their creature to do things like stock the village store or perform miracles. The creature is taught what to eat and when to eat it, as well as how to attack and impress enemy villages. Fighting skills can be taught through one-on-one battles with other creatures, as for attack and defense abilities. A reinforcement learning system is used for teaching: if the creature does something the player does not want, it can be discouraged with a slap. If the player approves of something the creature does, it can be stroked. The creature remembers how it reacted to various actions and gradually changes its behavior in response. It can perform complex functions that allow it to serve as the player’s avatar with time and repetition. Three different types of leashes are used to direct the creature to a specific location and can be tied to a building to restrict movement. The creature is encouraged to pay attention when actions are demonstrated by one leash, while the others encourage either benevolent or malevolent behavior. By providing visual feedback, the game reinforces the creature’s choices and learning, and the creature has an alignment distinct from the player’s. Evil wolves have glowing eyes and large fangs and claws, while good wolves turn purple and glow gently.

    To simulate creatures’ learning and decision-making processes, Lionhead Studios used Michael Bratman’s belief-desire–intention model. A creature’s intention is formed by combining desires, opinions, and beliefs. Beliefs are assigned to lists that contain information about various world objects. Desires are goals that the creature wishes to achieve and are expressed as simplified perceptrons. Opinions use decision trees to describe ways to satisfy a desire. The creature chooses the belief with the best opinion for each desire, forming an intention or goal.

    The game is based on an ant colony simulation. Wright was influenced by E. O. Wilson’s research on ant colonies.  SimAnt is divided into three modes: Quick Game, Full Game, and Experimental Game. It was released for the IBM PC, Amiga, Macintosh, and Super NES, among other platforms. The Super NES version includes eight scenarios in which the goal is to eliminate the enemy red ants in various locations, each with its own set of hazards.

    In SimAnt, the player takes on the role of an ant in a black ant colony in the back yard of a suburban home. The ant colony must fight off invading red ants. The ultimate goal is for the red ants and human owners to be driven out of the garden and into the house. simantics differed from other ‘Sim’ games in this regard because it was open-ended and had no win conditions.

    The player establishes a black ant colony in a small patch of yard in the Quick Game, which is shown from a top-down perspective. In the same patch, the computer opponent establishes a competing red ant colony. A side view of underground ant colonies is depicted. The player has direct control of one ant at a time, which is indicated by a yellow color and can switch to a different ant at any time by double-clicking the desired ant or selecting Exchange from the Yellow Ant menu and clicking on it. The player’s yellow ant can influence the behavior of other black ants by leaving pheromone trails to destinations such as food and enemy ant colonies, and it also has limited control over the other ants (by ordering a certain number to follow it, for instance). The yellow ant can also dig new tunnels underground, expanding the black colony’s network. When either the red or black colony in the said patch is defeated, the quick game is won or lost.

    The player’s yellow ant can collect food and pebbles, participate in trophallaxis (receive regurgitated food from friendly ants), and attack enemy ants. Ants in groups (or the yellow ant with her recruits) can attack and kill larger enemies such as spiders, caterpillars, and antlions. Human footsteps, electrical outlets, bug spray, spiders, antlions, lawnmowers, and rain, which washes away pheromone trails and can flood the bottom of ant nests, are all-natural hazards.

    The Full Game, like the Quick Game, begins with an ant colony in an overhead view. This overhead view focuses on a single square of a map that contains a yard and a house. The player spreads to new areas by producing young queens and drones to mate with. When the black colonies are eliminated, simantics is lost; when the red colonies are eliminated and the humans are driven out of the house, simantics is won.

    The Experimental Game is similar to the Quick Game, with the exception that the player can also control red ants and spiders and has access to a set of experimental tools. The player can use these tools to place pheromone trails, maze walls, rocks, ants, pesticides, and food.

    Home console and computer version

    The home console and computer versions put the player in control of Buzz Lightyear as he travels across fifteen levels (ten main levels and five boss levels) based on and inspired by locations from the film to save Woody. Buzz can attack enemies with a wrist laser that can be charged for more power and can also be aimed from a first-person perspective. Buzz also has a spin attack that can be charged up to become a continuous spin. Buzz can also perform a double jump by extending his wings and stomping his feet to activate switches. The player can obtain a laser power-up, which provides Buzz with a limited supply of charged-up laser shots, as well as extra lives and health-replenishing batteries.

    The main goal of Toy Story 2 Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue is to collect Pizza Planet tokens scattered throughout the stages. Each level contains five Pizza Planet tokens, which can be obtained by completing various objectives such as fighting a mini-boss, solving a puzzle, completing a timed challenge or winning a race against another character, or assisting a character in finding five of a specific object hidden throughout the level. Each level also contains a number of coins, 50 of which can be collected and given to Hamm in exchange for a token. Certain objectives necessitate the use of a special power-up, which must first be unlocked at a particular level by retrieving one of Mr. Potato Head’s missing body parts. A barrier that protects Buzz from damage, rocket boots that launch him at high speeds, a disc launcher that zeroes in on enemies, a grappling hook for climbing up high ledges, and hover boots for floating up to high places are all available as power-ups. While only one Pizza Planet token is required to complete a level, certain levels require a certain number of tokens to unlock. With the exception of the Nintendo 64 version, completing each level unlocks FMV clips from the film.  Instead, in between levels, the Nintendo 64 version shows screenshots from the film accompanied by text. This is due to the Nintendo 64 cartridge’s storage limitations.

    The Game Boy Color version is a side-scrolling platform game that has nothing to do with the other versions. Buzz, who can jump, run, and shoot his laser at enemies, is controlled by the player. It has 11 levels, including two bonus levels that can be accessed by collecting all of the coins in certain levels.  Because the Game Boy Color only has two action buttons, Buzz runs and jumps by pressing the B button. The player can jump and move across gaps while standing motionless, whereas running is initiated by pressing the B button while moving. A password feature is used to save game progress.

    Star Trek Legacy was originally scheduled for release in the fall of 2006 to coincide with Star Trek’s 40th anniversary, the Windows version did not arrive in North America until December 6, 2006, and the Xbox 360 version did not arrive until December 15. On December 22, 2006, both the PC version and the Xbox 360 version were released in Europe.

    In the game, players command a fleet of various Federation starships (up to four) in combat against various races across three different Star Trek eras. Star Trek Legacy marks the first time that the five actors who played each of the captains in the five individual Star Trek shows, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, and Scott Bakula, have all worked on the same project at the same time. The PC version of Star Trek: Legacy received mostly negative feedback, whereas the Xbox 360 version fared slightly better with critics.

    Players command a squadron of one to four 3D-modeled starships and engage in battles with other starships. Pitch, yaw, and forward propulsion are used to control the movement of the starship (as well as a straight-line “warp” capability for rapid movement across a map). Movement takes place in a fully 3D “pizza box” environment. The player controls a single starship at a time, controlling weapon fire, movement, and repairs, and can switch between each of their squadron’s starships. Players can also switch from a 3D display to a top-down 2D tactical display, from which they can issue specific commands to ships in a task force; for example, the player can order a ship to warp to a specific point on the map.

    The viewpoint can be controlled in a variety of ways, with players able to “lock” onto an opponent to ensure that the opponent is always in the center of the screen, to look straight ahead, or to rotate the camera around the selected ship. Starships are classified based on their weapon strength and maneuverability and are assigned a set number of points that roughly correspond to the ship’s strength. The player earns “command points” during each mission and can spend these points between missions to add new ships to their squadron.

    Aside from the linear campaign, there is also a customizable skirmish mode. The map on which to play, the number of ships per squadron, the number of command points allowed, the race and allegiance of each AI player, and the composition of their own squadron are all chosen by the players. In skirmish mode, players are not limited to controlling Starfleet vessels as they are in the campaign; they can also control ships from the various races encountered in the campaign, such as the Borg, Klingons, and Romulans. The “coop wave” mode is a mode of play included in later versions of Star Trek: Legacy in which a player (along with up to 6 other “squadrons/fleets”) defends a station from assault by increasingly difficult-to-defeat enemy fleets that increase in gradual waves. Bethesda has also released a mission editor tool that allows users to freely customize missions.

    The PC version of Star Trek: Legacy includes a number of modification tools. The “Ultimate Universe Mod” is one such mod, which allows players to use a mass armada (with both sides’ ships chosen from a list of 450+ starships from all races) or battle with pre-determined ships for both sides. Ultimate Universe introduces a new mode called “Historical Battles,” in which players can fight famous Star Trek battles from multiple perspectives.

    Alice by American McGee is a third-person action game in which the player controls the titular character Alice along a linear path. Alice has the ability to communicate with non-player characters, fight enemies and bosses, and solve puzzles. Alice can jump, cling to ledges, climb and swing on ropes, swim in the water, and glide over columns of steam by using her inflated dress as a makeshift parachute, in addition to walking and jogging. American McGee’s Alice has four difficulty levels: “Easy,” “Medium,” “Hard,” and “Nightmare.” The levels of Alice American McGee include many platforms and other obstacles that are not based on artificial intelligence, as well as puzzles that must be solved in order to progress through American McGee’s Alice.

    Throughout American McGee’s Alice, Alice can acquire up to ten different weapons, referred to as “toys,” to use against enemies. Most toys have two modes of operation, which differ in terms of attack method and strength. Alice’s first toy is the Vorpal Blade, which, like the Croquet Mallet, can be used for basic melee attacks. The Ice Wand and an explosive jack-in-the-box are two toys with a longer range. The Jabberwock’s Eye Staff, a toy that is assembled from pieces scattered throughout the setting, is crucial to the plot. The combat system in Alice American Mcgee uses automatic target designation, which means that if an enemy character is nearby, the player’s weapon sight is automatically fixed on that enemy. Outside of combat, the sight serves as a jump indicator, taking the form of two footprints that appear on the surface of any location where Alice would land if she jumped.

    Because American Mcgees Alice takes place in Alice’s mind, the health mechanic is represented as “sanity,” which is shown as a red bar on the left side of the screen. When Alice takes damage from enemy attacks or an environmental hazard, her sanity meter depletes. When the sanity meter is depleted, American Mcgee Alice ends prematurely, but it can be resumed from where it was last saved. A magic mechanic is represented by “willpower,” which appears as a blue bar on the right side of the screen. When almost any toy is used, willpower is consumed, and a toy will not serve its purpose if Alice’s willpower is too low. Certain amounts of sanity or willpower can be restored by collecting crystals of “meta-essence,” Wonderland’s life force. Crystals of “meta-substance,” which represent the power of imagination, restore sanity and willpower at the same time. All crystal types can be found scattered throughout the levels, and some respawn in specific locations. After defeating an enemy, you can obtain meta-substance; the volume of the meta-substance depends on the strength of the defeated enemy.

    Unusual items can be found throughout American McGee’s Alice that improve Alice’s abilities: “Ragebox Elixir” increases the damage dealt by Alice with the Vorpal Blade, “Darkened Looking Glass” makes Alice invisible to enemies, and “Grasshopper Tea” improves Alice’s speed and jumping height. These items alter Alice’s appearance, and their effects last only a short time before she reverts to her original state.

    Game Description

    Oni is a third-person action video game published by Take-Two Interactive and developed by Bungie West, a division of Bungie. It was Bungie West’s sole game when it was released in 2001. The gameplay alternates between third-person shooting and hand-to-hand combat, with a focus on the latter. Originally intended only for Mac OS and Windows, Rockstar Canada worked on a PlayStation 2 port at the same time. The game’s style was heavily influenced by Ghost in the Shell and Akira, and it is set in a cyberpunk world.

    Oni is a third-person action game with a focus on melee combat and some gunplay. The player can punch, kick, and throw enemies; as Oni gamer progresses, stronger moves and combos become available. In the Oni game, there are ten different types of guns to choose from, including handguns, rifles, rocket launchers, and energy weapons. Power-ups such as “hyposprays,” which heal damage, and cloaking devices, which make the player invisible, can be found on corpses or scattered throughout the levels. Because the player can only carry one weapon at a time and ammunition is limited, hand-to-hand combat is the most effective and widely used method of defeating enemies.

    There are several types of enemies, each with its own unarmed combat style. Each class is divided into tiers of increasing difficulty. Tiers are color-coded, as in Bungie’s previous Marathon titles, in this case by green (weakest), blue, and red (strongest). The levels of health of each opponent are also color-coded, as indicated by a flash when the player strikes or shoots them. Green flashes indicate that the opponent has a lot of health, while red flashes indicate that the opponent is about to die.

    Oni does not limit the player to fighting small groups of enemies in small areas; each area is completely explorable. The fourteen levels vary in size, with some large enough to house an entire building. Bungie commissioned the buildings to be designed by two architects.

    The Oni video game engine employs an interpolation method that tweens keyframes, smoothing the animation of complex martial-arts moves. Frame slippage, on the other hand, is a common issue when multiple non-player characters close to the player are attacking.

    The Warriors is a 2005 beat ’em up video game developed by Rockstar Toronto and published by Rockstar Games, based on the 1979 film of the same name (which was based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel). It was released in October 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and in February 2007 for the PlayStation Portable; Rockstar Leeds worked on the PSP port. The Warriors was also released on the PlayStation 3 in May 2013 and the PlayStation 4 in July 2016 through the PlayStation Network. Set in gritty 1970s New York City, the story follows the eponymous street gang as they are falsely accused of the murder of a respected gang leader and are forced to return to their home turf in Coney Island while being pursued by rival gangs and the police. The Warriors expands on the plot of the film, with the first half covering events that occurred three months prior to the film.

    The gameplay is centred on large-scale brawling in 3D environments, with other activities such as chase sequences interspersed. Score to the warriors game includes songs from the film’s soundtrack; however, as of 2016, some of them, including “I Love Livin’ in the City” and “In the City,” had been removed from the PS3 and PS4 versions due to licensing restrictions. Several cast members from the film reprised their roles in The Warriors.     The Warriors is an action-adventure survival game that emphasizes brawling. Several minor gameplay elements, such as the ability to use spray paint to mark turf or insult other people, are incorporated into the experience. Score to the warriors game (Warriors leader) Cleon, lieutenant Swan, heavy muscles Ajax and Snow, Cleon and Swan’s friends Vermin and Cowboy, scout Fox, Harlem native Cochise, and Rembrandt, the Warriors graffiti artist, are all playable characters. In each mission, the player can only control one character, while the others are controlled by the computer. The most prominent characters are Cleon, Swan, Ajax, and Rembrandt. The Warriors game attack rival gangs’ territory in most missions, though there are five bonus “flashback” missions that explain how certain members joined the gang; all gangs, except the Destroyers, are taken from the film, though some are only mentioned or briefly featured and never fought against, namely the Electric Eliminators, Panzers, and Van Cortlandt Rangers. After completing the main storyline, an arcade game called Armies of the Night is unlocked. Swan and Ajax are the two playable characters.

    The Warriors’ headquarters serves as a central location. From within, the player can train (10 ranks of physical fitness such as sit-ups, press-ups, chin-ups, and heavy bag, which increase stamina), converse with fellow gang members, play through rumble mode and other bonus material, walk outside to Coney Island for extra missions, or begin the next level of the story proper. Mission objectives include beating up a certain number of enemy gang members or stealing a certain amount of items, as well as more complex and creative tasks such as winning a graffiti competition in SoHo, stealing goods to plant on corrupt cops and rival gang members, and wild chases away from Baseball Furie’s members wielding baseball bats. Fighting is done in the style of a gang rumble, with the player being assisted by other Warriors at the same time (a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 8). Combos consist of 2-3 button chains for weak attacks, strong attacks, holds, and throws. Grab attacks allow the playable character to perform their own unique power attack, which quickly depletes the enemy’s health. The Warriors fight their way through the ranks, gaining a strong reputation and displaying their colors proudly until they are invited to a meeting of all of New York City’s gangs, which is where the film (and the last few missions of The Warriors) begins.

    The Warriors progresses in a linear fashion from one mission event to the next, which is usually represented by a cutscene. In The Warriors (what channel is the warriors game on tonight), combat takes place in real-time, with players pressing buttons to initiate attacks by the on-screen character. By pausing The Warriors game, the player can discover combat techniques such as 2-3 combos, wall smashes, grab and throws, charges, body cross attacks, snap attacks, weapon attacks, and counter-attacks. The player can view the stats of the character. This menu is controlled by the right analog stick, while movement in the 3D environment is controlled by the joystick, and camera controls are managed by the up arrow on the digital pad and the analog joystick, allowing the player to navigate the menu while avoiding or approaching enemies. In addition, players have the option of mugging people, receiving money, flashing, and spraying graffiti. Items such as car radios and jewelry are available for the player to collect or steal at each level.  Completing these actions grants the player points, which can be used to unlock soldiers, arenas, and game modes in Rumble Mode, what channel is the warriors game on tonight’s free-for-all multiplayer mode. 

    The playable character has a health bar beneath their feet that decreases whenever they take damage, but it can be replenished by using flash. The circular grey bar inside the health bar represents the player’s grappling stamina, which depletes when they grab or mount an opponent. The top-left hand side represents the character’s rage meter, which when full allows the player to perform a variety of combos and styles. In a rage, the player becomes temporarily invincible, capable of performing finishing moves and inflicting significant damage on the opponent. If the player’s allies are knocked out, the player can use flash to heal them. If the playable character loses all of their health, the mission is over and the player is prompted to resume from the checkpoint or restart the mission from the beginning. Defeating enemies causes items to fall from their bodies, flash to restore health, spray to spray over enemy gang territories, and money to be spent on items from dealers.

    Game Description

    Worms 3D is a Worms series 3D artillery turn-based tactical game. It was created by Team17. Worms 3D was the first in the series to be played in 3D, and it also included a number of new weapons. Furthermore, some of the weapon operations differ significantly from previous Worms titles.

    Worms 3D was announced by Team17 in 2002 as Worms 3, with a different logo, and was set to be published by Activision at the time. Worms 3D was renamed in 2003, and Activision was dropped as the publisher. Sega acquired the rights to publish Worms 3D in Europe.

    Gameplay

    With the exception of the three-dimensional view, which gives the player more freedom and possibilities to complete the task at hand, the gameplay is mostly unchanged from its predecessors. Campaign and Quick Match modes return from previous versions. Worms 3D also has a multiplayer mode and the ability to edit and create teams. The goal of most matches is to eliminate the worms of the opposing forces, whereas the Campaign mode assigns the player specific goals to complete. The Campaign consists of 35 small missions in which the player must use their worms to complete a specific task, such as destroying enemy worms or collecting a specific crate, or even unique missions, such as detonating 16 hidden landmines in a certain amount of time. All of the missions award points based on how well the player performs. Gold medals typically unlock bonuses such as maps, challenge missions, weapon information, or voicebanks.

    The worms continue to fight using a variety of conventional or droll weapons, such as rockets, explosives, firearms, and airstrikes, while also traversing the island using utilities when those items are available, as in 3D Worms predecessors. The entire inventory is based on Worms 3D rom immediate predecessors, but it is noticeably simplified and lacks previously existing items, such as digging tools like the blowtorch.

    The player must use a weapon/utility to collect targets that add to their timebank, which grows steadily in the Challenge missions. Obtaining a gold medal in this area unlocks maps or locked weapons.

It is based on the same-named 2007 film. The game’s Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions were also planned but never released.

    Game Description

    Twisted Metal 2 (also known as Twisted Metal: World Tour in Europe and Twisted Metal EX in Japan) is the second and most successful installment in the Twisted Metal vehicular combat series. SingleTrac developed Twisted Metal 2 characters, Sony published it, and it was released in 1996 for PlayStation and Microsoft Windows.

    The graphics are slightly lower in the Microsoft Windows version than in the PlayStation version, but it does not require a 3D accelerator video card. It also has a multiplayer mode that can be accessed through a modem or the Internet.

    Twisted Metal 2 characters were re-released as a PlayStation Greatest Hits game two years after its initial release, but this time under the developer 989 Studios rather than SingleTrac. In 2007, it was also made available for download on the PlayStation Network in Japan and North America.

Players select a vehicle and an arena—or, in the story mode, a series of arenas—to engage in battle with opposing drivers.
