    Gearhead Garage

    Game Description

Snap-On Gearhead Garage: The Virtual Mechanic is a PC game in which players repair and customize late-model automobiles and trucks. Mikado created it, Snap-on Tools endorsed it, and Head Games published it in 1999. (subsequently acquired by Activision). There is no driving feature, but Gearhead Garage introduced a completely new “bolt-em-up” paradigm. The appeal is similar to taking things apart in real life—players can completely disassemble the engine, repair individual parts, reassemble them, and then display the finished product in their 3D “car lot.” The game also includes a series of “jobs” in which the player must repair vehicles owned by fictional characters. This enables them to earn money in order to purchase custom items from a catalog, auction, or junkyard.

    Little Fighter 2

    Game Description

Little Fighter 2 is the sequel to the game Little Fighter and is a Hong Kong freeware PC fighting game for Windows. Marti Wong and Starsky Wong created Little Fighter 2 in 1999, and it has received numerous updates since then.

The game can accommodate up to four human players on a single computer and a total of eight characters via online play or computer-controlled opponents. The keyboard or a gamepad is used to control the characters. A configuration menu allows you to customize all keys.

  • Lego Racers

    Lego Racers

    Game Description

Lego Racers is a racing video game based on the Lego bricks that were created by High Voltage Software and published by Lego Media.

The single-player mode is set in the fictional “Legoland” universe and follows various Minifigure characters competing in a racing competition created by a fictional racing champion named Rocket Racer. Players take control of a Minifigure and race them in a variety of Lego-built cars against other Minifigure characters. Items can be used by the player to impede the progress of other racers, and the player can build their own cars and characters out of unlocked Lego bricks and race with them. Multiple players can race against each other in a local multiplayer mode.

Originally conceived by High Voltage founder Kerry J. Janofsky, Lego Racers’ development was aided by The Lego Group’s creative expertise after Lego Media agreed to begin production. Critics were divided on Lego Racers graphics, construction system, driving gameplay, and other design aspects, and it received mixed reviews. Attention to Detail created two sequels, Lego Racers 2 and Drome Racers, which were released in 2001 and 2002, respectively.

  • Harvest Moon: Back to Nature

    Harvest Moon: Back to Nature

    Game Description

Harvest Moon: Back To Nature was the first Harvest Moon title to be released on the PlayStation. The ESRB has rated Harvest Moon Back to Nature “E,” and it also depicts the use of alcohol. It was released in Japan on December 16, 1999, in North America on November 20, 2000, and in PAL Regions on January 26, 2001.

Though many of the characters are based on Harvest Moon 64, they have slightly different personalities, families, and occupations, which caused some fan backlash when these squabbles were carried over to Harvest Moon: DS and eventually became the final canon of said characters. Unlike any other game set in Mineral Town, it employs more 3D graphics and many features not found in Game Boy versions.

Back to Nature and Bokujō Monogatari: Harvest Moon for Girl were later ported to the PlayStation Portable in Japan and North America as Harvest Moon: Boy and Girl.

  • Dune 2000

    Dune 2000

    Game Description

Dune 2000 is a 1998 Microsoft Windows real-time strategy video game developed by Intelligent Games and published by Westwood Studios. In 1999, it was ported to the PlayStation. It is a remake of Dune II, which is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune universe. The plot is similar to that of Dune II and is continued in Emperor: Battle for Dune. Although Dune 2000 was intended to be a remake of Dune II, the plotline differs significantly and includes references to the execution of Mentat Amon of House Ordos and the replacement of the Harkonnen Mentat from Dune II, Radnor, by Hayt De Vries. A full-motion video is used to tell the story.

    Gameplay

The player takes command of one of three Houses and must compete for control of the spiced brew on the planet Arrakis. The player harvests spice in exchange for Solaris,’ the in-game currency, and uses the Solaris to build units to supply their forces. Dune 2000 has an interface and gameplay similar to Command & Conquer: Red Alert, with the exception that, unlike Dune II, the player can control more than one unit at a time.

Dune 2000 map, like most real-time strategy games, begins with a black fog of war covering the entire map, with the exception of units’ line of sight. As the units move around the map, the fog lifts for the duration of the mission, allowing the player to observe activity in those areas even if no units have a line of sight to them. The player, like in Dune II, can build concrete before placing buildings. All buildings in Dune II deteriorated regardless, but the concrete foundations slowed the process. Buildings in Dune 2000, on the other hand, do not deteriorate over time when constructed entirely of concrete.

Although each house has many common units, such as infantry, Wind Traps, and Mobile Construction Vehicles, each house has its own set of units, such as the Atreides Sonic Tank, Ordos Deviator, and Harkonnen Devastator. The Trike is shared by Houses Harkonnen and Atreides, while House Ordos has an upgraded version, the Raider. A player can gain access to other Houses’ special units, as in many Westwood games, by capturing an enemy building that can manufacture the desired units. When the Missile Tank is otherwise inaccessible, House Ordos can obtain it by ordering it from the Starport. Following patch 1.06, the Harkonnen will be able to train the Sardaukar, who are soldier-fanatics loyal to the Corrino Emperor.

    Gameplay

The 1995 version of JumpStart 1st Grade featured an interactive schoolhouse filled with educational activities, songs, and the like, with Frankie the school mascot guiding the player around. Playing activities earned points, which could be exchanged for milk cap rewards in the future. The classic version includes the songs JumpStart First Grade, Vegetable ABCs If You Were My Friend, Reading is Fun, Zero is Nothing, My Week at Sea, and Frankie’s Theme Song, as well as the voiceover and singing talents of Mark Beckwith of Razzle Bam Boom and Glynnis Talken Campbell.

The 2000 remake followed a similar theme, with Frankie adopting a more student-like persona and selecting the player to be his partner in the school treasure hunt. Playing games now earns the player clues that will assist the user in locating the treasure. There are four ways to get somewhere in the hallway. There are two outside areas and two inside areas. A classroom, a cafeteria, field trips, and a playground are located on each of the four sides. The player must earn 100 points in order to receive a milk cap. There are 30 green math caps, 30 red reading caps, 20 blue nature caps, and 20 yellow time caps. At Christmas, 60 milk caps are colored, and in UCLA, 40 milk caps are colored.
