Backyard Baseball 2001

Game Description

Backyard Baseball 2001 was the second game in the Backyard Sports franchise, and the fourth overall. It was designed for Windows and Macintosh. It was also the second game in which pros were present.

Gameplay

The most significant change is the addition of Pro Kids to the Baseball series. Starting with this game, all of the kids are on the bleachers during the player draught; previously, only a subset of the kids was on the bleachers. The game also introduces the concepts of “good days” and “bad days,” in which the players’ stats will increase or decrease at random or in response to external conditions. Batting powerups can now be obtained through double plays; previously, they could only be obtained by hitting powerup pitches.

Each opposing team now has a Backyard Kid and a Pro Kid as captains in Season Mode. In Season Mode, the Pick-Up Game fields are now available; the player selects one as their home field. Several Backyard Kids’ statistics have been updated. The ability to create a custom player has been added; this feature was first introduced in Backyard Football.

How to play on Windows

1. Download and Extract Backyard_Baseball_2001_Win_ROM_EN.7z
2. Open the “Game Files” folder and then mount the file “BY Baseball 2001.bin”
3. Double click on “AutoRun.exe” and then select “Play”. If they ask you to register select “Register Later”. The game’s setup should launch. Follow on-screen instructions and finish installing the game.
