    Eragon

    Game Description

Eragon is a third-person video game created by Stormfront Studios for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. Unique versions of Eragon were also created, mostly developed by Amaze Entertainment, for the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, and mobile phone handheld gaming devices.

The game is based on the 2006 Eragon film, which is loosely based on Christopher Paolini’s 2002 novel Eragon. In order to coincide with the release of the film, the game was launched on November 14, 2006, in the United States, November 24, 2006, in Europe, and November 23, 2006, in Australia. In the game, the player assumes the role of Eragon, the protagonist from the book and film, and controls his dragon Saphira on occasion.

    [title] Gameplay

Third-person combat, generally on foot, takes up the majority of the game. The player can use four “combo” assaults at the start of the game. They can also use three basic magic attacks: Thrysta Vindr (magic push/pull), Skölir (magic shield), and magic fire (magic fire) (Brisingr). These three magical abilities can be used in a variety of ways (for example, Brisingr arrows, or throwing spears in baskets magically). There are sixteen levels in the PC and console versions (excluding the Xbox 360 version).

Some missions allow the player to fight alongside the dragon Saphira. With the exception of certain unusual attack maneuvers, the gameplay mechanics in these levels are mostly similar to those in ground-based levels (such as tail attacks). During these scenes, the protagonist Eragon sits atop Saphira’s back and can be made to fire magic arrows. The player is unable to choose whether or not to use Saphira. In ground-based levels, the player cannot use Saphira: they can call for her and she will swoop by, but they cannot use this feature to ride Saphira. A multiplayer co-op mode lets two individuals play through the main storyline at the same time. At any point, you can convert from playing a one-player game to a two-player game. There are no multiplayer possibilities available via the internet.
