Game Description

R.U.S.E. is a real-time strategy video game developed by Eugen Systems and published by Ubisoft it was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, in September 2010. On November 15, 2011, the game was subsequently made available for macOS via Steam. A strategic war game called R.U.S.E. centers on the invasion of Nazi Germany in late 1944 and is set during World War II. Many actual and some imaginary events are included in the campaign. In place of using force, it emphasizes information warfare. Players can deceive their opponents and alter the course of battles by employing a variety of ruses and decoys. The way a player maintains their economy and the units they employ have a significant impact on the result of fights in the game. Due to the military license expiring, Ubisoft removed the game from Steam in December 2015. 2018 saw the backward compatibility release of the Xbox 360 version for the Xbox One.

Units

R.U.S.E’s units can defend themselves against opponents if they have the appropriate weapon to do so and are within firing range. Units are controlled by the mouse. A crosshair that appears when units are sent to assault the target shows how often they are successful in taking it out. It can be extremely simple, simple, balanced, dangerous, or highly dangerous. The latter indicated that the target was extremely dangerous and that the unit(s) might object to being ordered to engage. Units that are critically hurt will retract with a (!) on top of the unit. When threatened, units that are unable to engage in contact will immediately retreat. A unit might occasionally be unable to retract if it is under shock or stress. Unengaged damaged units repair themselves. In R.U.S.E, some units can be upgraded to improve their defense and weaponry. Some units need to be upgraded in order for production to proceed.

Aircraft

The combat can be directed by the user who controls the sky. Aircraft can fly quickly over the entire map without being hampered by any kind of terrain. They are made at the airport. Aircraft have a finite amount of ammunition and must land to reload before making another attack. Reconnaissance, fighter, fighter-bomber, and bomber aircraft are all types of aircraft. Infantry that may be transported by air are known as paratroopers. Paratroopers are defenseless when in flight. While most aircraft will be unable to protect themselves against it, certain air reconnaissance can defend themselves with a light machine gun.

Buildings

Defense structures and production buildings are the two main categories of structures in R.U.S.E. To repel hostile units, one can use defense structures. Each faction has a distinct set of structures that can protect them from particular kinds of units. These structures are impregnable. The Headquarters, Secondary Headquarters, Administrative Building, Supply Depot, Barracks, Armor Base, Artillery & Anti-Air Base, Anti-Tank Base, Prototype Base, and Airfield are production structures that create units or supplies. Depending on the faction you are playing as, these buildings provide units and upgrades for those units. Depending on the faction you select, units’ prices, levels of protection, and firepower will change.

Factions

While other factions are included in the game and can be played both online and offline in battle mode, the United States is the only playable faction in the campaign (although units from other factions are placed under the player’s control in various missions). The factions are the United States, Japan, the Soviet Union, the Free French Forces, Nazi Germany, the Kingdom of Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Each character has a distinct combination of advantages and disadvantages, which makes gameplay more interesting.

For instance, while the Germans relied on potent, heavy tanks, the US focuses on quick infantry and air power (such as the Tiger and King Tiger). Japan, the new faction, differs significantly from the majority of other countries. It is the only country without concealable anti-airguns, for instance. Its tanks are comparable to the Italian line, although all other factions consider a “medium” tank to be a light tank. Although it has sophisticated artillery, unlike all other countries (the US, Germany, and USSR), the HA-TO lacks the 2.4-kilometer

range and fires like an assault rifle (one 300 mm 170 kg shell at a time). It is the game’s most potent artillery gun, and aside from nuclear weapons, two shots are typically sufficient to completely demolish most buildings.

Ruses

In R.U.S.E., the player can deceive or bluff an opponent using a series of ruses. The ruses are broken down into four different categories: those that disclose information (like Decryption), those that conceal information (like Radio Silence), those that enable the creation of false structures or units intended to fool the enemy (like Decoy Offensive), and those that modify unit behavior (such as Blitz or Terror).

Multiplayer

R.U.S.E. features an online multiplayer component and allows for dedicated servers. It contains both cooperative and competitive multiplayer, and it provides for ranked matches.

On September 22, 2010, Ubisoft announced that the Valve Anti-Cheat system (VAC) would be added in the following patch as part of efforts to lessen cheating in the game.

Operations

A number of “Operations” are available to the player in addition to the main story mode. These are comparable to story-mode missions that employ particular restrictions not seen in the other non-story mode portion “Battles,” such as restricting the number of tanks, aircraft, and other weapons a player can deploy. Some of the missions are hypothetical, such as a 1948 border clash between the USA and USSR over Berlin, while others are inspired by historical events.
