Enter the Matrix is a 2003 action-adventure video game developed by Shiny Entertainment and published under the Atari brand by Infogrames, Inc. It was the first game based on the film series The Matrix. Its plot parallels that of the film The Matrix Reloaded and includes almost an hour of fresh video generated for the game, written and directed by the Wachowskis and starring the cast of the movie.
Enter the Matrix was released in May 2003, the same month as The Matrix Reloaded, with The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. While critics gave it mediocre reviews, the game sold 5 million copies by May 2004.

Enter the Matrix puts players in control of two secondary characters from Reloaded and Revolutions, Ghost (Anthony Wong) and Niobe (Jada Pinkett-Smith), who are members of the same rebel group as the series’ protagonists, Morpheus, Trinity, and Neo. Niobe is the Captain of the Logos, the rebel fleet’s fastest ship. Ghost is the ship’s first mate, weapons expert, and philosophical assassin. The events in the game take place around the same period as those in Reloaded.
Players can choose to play as Niobe or Ghost, both of whom have minor differences throughout the story. The majority of levels involve commanding players in the third person, using weaponry and fighting skills to defeat opponents and achieve level objectives. Bullet time (called “Focus” in the game) can be used at any time, slowing down time and allowing players to do activities like shooting in midair and dodging bullets. Some stages require one-on-one martial arts combat versus solitary opponents. The manner of gameplay depends on the selected player in levels requiring vehicles, such as driving a car or piloting the Logos, with Niobe managing the vehicles to avoid obstacles and Ghost controlling a gun to fight off approaching opponents (although Ghost is required to drive on one level as Niobe is fighting an Agent on a plane as part of a different level). A hacking system allows players to enter codes that unlock special talents, weaponry, and secrets, such as a vs mode for two players.
