Crash Tag Team Racing is a racing video game developed by Vancouver-based Radical Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and the PlayStation Portable. On October 19, 2005, the game was launched in North America, and on November 4, 2005, it was released in Europe. In addition to Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Twinsanity, the PlayStation 2 version was redistributed in the three-disc “Crash Bandicoot Action Pack” collection on June 12, 2007, and on July 20, 2007, in Europe.
Following Crash Nitro Kart, Crash Tag Team Racing is the third racing game in the Crash Bandicoot video game series. The main character of the game, Crash Bandicoot, must defeat his antagonist, Doctor Neo Cortex, in order to obtain control of a run-down theme park. To do this, he must locate the park’s missing Power Gems.
While the visual aesthetic, humor, and supplemental material of crash bandicoot tag team racing were largely lauded, the crash bandicoot tag team racing mechanics and track layouts were panned for being unoriginal, and its graphics quality was thought to be uneven. Later, the game’s content was remastered as part of the June 21, 2019, release of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.

The player assumes control of Crash Bandicoot, who has to find the missing Power Gems and the Black Power Gem of Ebenezer Von Clutch throughout each of the park’s five themed regions. In order to get Power Crystals and Wumpa Coins, the park’s currency, participate in races and minigames, locate the Power Gem required to unlock the park’s five sections, and finally solve the mystery of the Power Gem thief’s identity.
Platforming gates that open up new platforming, Extra Wumpa Coins, and Power Crystals may all be obtained through playing platforming as the player explores the park. You can interact with characters by talking to them to obtain minigames, automobiles, clothing, and weapon upgrades. In order to purchase prizes like new attire, the player can shatter crates and acquire Wumpa Coins. Additionally, drinking Wumpa Whip offers the player a brief coin multiplier that allows them to make more money from smashing crates and Wumpa Coins. A themed area’s Power Gem, which opens a different region of the theme park, can only be unlocked by collecting Power Crystals. Additionally, “Die-O-Ramas” mini-cartoons that show Crash being gravely hurt or “killed off” in a variety of, mostly funny ways, can be unlocked. Another outfit for Crash is unlocked after obtaining all 34 Die-O-Ramas. The Die-O-Ramas are always accessible from the main menu’s Extras section.
The “clashing” mechanic present in the crash tag team racing bandicoots segments serves as its primary hook. Depending on the gaming platform, the player can “clash” with another vehicle by hitting a specific button. When an opponent’s vehicle merges with the player’s own, the player will get control of a potent turret weapon and be able to fire at other vehicles. In addition to shooting at opposing cars, the turret may also repel approaching assaults.
