    Game Description

    SimCity, also known as Micropolis or SimCity Classic, is a city-building simulation video game developed by Will Wright and released from 1989 to 1991 for a variety of platforms. SimCity has two-dimensional graphics and an overhead view. The goal of SimCity Classic is to build a city, develop residential and industrial areas, build infrastructure, and collect taxes to fund the future city development. Importance is placed on raising the population’s standard of living, maintaining a balance between different sectors, and monitoring the region’s environmental situation in order to keep the settlement from declining and going bankrupt.

    SimCity was created independently by Will Wright in 1985 and did not see its first release until 1989. Because SimCity Classic lacked any of the arcade or action elements that dominated the video game market in the 1980s, video game publishers were hesitant to release it, until Broderbund agreed to distribute it. Although SimCity Classic sold poorly at first, positive feedback from the gaming press helped to boost sales. SimCity was released on several other platforms after becoming a best-seller, most notably the Super NES in 1991, where its gameplay was significantly improved with Nintendo’s involvement.

    SimCity was a commercial success, selling 300,000 units for PCs and nearly 2 million units for the SNES. SimCity Classic was recognized as a new phenomenon in the gaming industry, and it challenged the widely held belief that computer games were primarily designed for children. Despite the lack of action elements, SimCity received critical acclaim for its innovative and addictive gameplay. SimCity Classic was deemed instructive and beneficial to the player’s understanding of the fundamentals of urban planning, politics, and economics by reviewers. SimCity has won numerous awards from various news organizations and associations.     The Official Game of the Movie (also known as Peter Jackson’s King Kong, or simply King Kong) is a 2005 action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft, based on the 2005 film King Kong. Peter Jacksons King Kong was co-created by the film’s director, Peter Jackson, and the game’s director, Michel Ancel. Peter Jackson’s King Kong follows New York scriptwriter Jack Driscoll through Skull Island as he tries to save love interest Ann Darrow, who has been sacrificed to the giant gorilla Kong by the island’s natives.

    Players can take on the roles of both Jack Driscoll and King Kong in the game. To defend and fight creatures on Skull Island, players use firearms and spears like Jack, and punch, grab and use objects/corpses as Kong. The King Kong segments are viewed from a third-person perspective, whereas the Jack levels are viewed from a first-person viewpoint. Peter Jacksons King Kong downplays the role of a heads-up display, with the developers explaining that this could potentially help players become more immersed in the game (although the HUD can be turned on in the settings).

    The home console and GBA versions include 55 Ford vehicles, while the DS version includes 26 Ford vehicles. The Ford Competition and Ford Challenge modes are included in the console version. Ford Competition, a single-player mode, is made up of 14 tournaments, each of which consists of races using only specific types of vehicles. The Ford Challenge consists of a series of race events in which certain challenges must be completed in order to advance to the next event. Each vehicle class has four challenges, each with an easy, medium, and hard difficulty setting. Each vehicle faces a unique challenge. Ford Racing 3 begins with three vehicles and a few race tracks, with additional vehicles and tracks unlocked by completing challenges and competitions. The DS version also includes a Ford Collection mode, which consists of ten different types of races that the player can win to unlock new content.

    The PC version supports six-player network multiplayer via a local area network or the Internet, whereas the Xbox version supports up to six players online via Xbox Live.
