Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a beat ’em up video game released by Konami in 2003. The game is based on the Ninja Turtles TV series that aired in 2003. The main gameplay loosely adapts the following season one episode: Things Change, A Better Mousetrap, Attack of the Mousers, Meet Casey Jones, Nano, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The Way of Invisibility, Notes from the Underground, and Return to New York, as well as a level that is completely unrelated to the animated series. Despite the fact that Quarry and Razorfish are bosses, Stonebiter only appears in cartoon scenes.

The player can take on the roles of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, or Raphael in this game. Casey Jones and Splinter are two characters who aren’t visible. There includes a story mode for one or two players, as well as a vs mode in which two players compete against each other. Players can fight as all four turtles, Splinter, Casey Jones, Hamato Yoshi, The Turtlebot, Hun, Oroku Saki, and The Shredder, in the vs mode. In the Story Mode, defeating Oroku Saki with any Turtle unlocks a Challenge mode, which must be completed in order to access Hamato Yoshi and his dojo. There are also third-person view races, a Donatello shell-glider level, and a Raphael-Casey bike race.

In story mode, players control the turtles as they progress through six stages, each of which contains multiple levels or “Areas.” Each level requires the player to traverse from one end of the level to the other while controlling a turtle of their choice. While the levels are largely the same for all four turtles, certain bosses are only available to Raph, Leo, Don, and Mikey. Casey Jones is exclusive to Raph, Master Splinter is exclusive to Leo, Baxter Stockman is exclusive to Don, and Hun is exclusive to Mikey.
